What’s on Your Nightstand

I thought I’d spend a little more time explaining what this monthly meme is all about. It was a part of our concept of the site — allowing booklovers to get together in community to share what they are reading — from the very beginning. We had our first Nightstand in July 2008 and have held it every 4th Tuesday since then!

Basically it’s just a place for bloggers to share what’s on their nightstand, either what they plan to read in the next month, or what they’ve moved off their nightstand, having finished them in the previous month. You can include a picture of your bounty if you’d like. You can also tell us where the books came from. Are you a library gal? A book blogger who mostly reads what is sent to you for review? Did you stock up your e-reader at a big sale or with special free titles? Did a friend pass on a favorite book that you just had to read?

Have fun with it, and try to get around to visit others who’ve linked up as well.

We’re glad you’re here!

What’s on Your Nightstand, March 26

It’s that time again! The 4th Tuesday of the month, when we all share what we hope to read this month (or some share what they just finished reading). Either way, we talk about the books we are reading!

Write a post on your blog and link directly below. Or just tell us in the comments if you don’t have a blog. And whether you are linking up or not, click around to see what everyone else is reading. You’ll probably get some new ideas.

What’s on Your Nightstand, February 26

Are you ready? It’s time to talk books! Each month we are amazed at those of you who choose to link up, so thanks!

We also welcome newcomers each month, and we appreciate how you are spreading the word.

As a recap — this is how it works. You just make a list of books that you’d like to read this month, or hope to read this month, or books that you’ve recently finished and are moving off your nightstand.

Write a post on your blog and link directly below. Or just tell us in the comments if you don’t have a blog.

What’s On Your Nightstand, January 22

It seems like it’s been a while, perhaps because I didn’t link up or visit around in December, because I was visiting family.

But I’m back, and I’ve got quite a pile on my own nightstand (and on my closet shelf), and I’m hoping that by setting some goals, I’ll actually get through them. We shall see!!

What about you? Are you digging into your Christmas booty? Perhaps catching up on review titles? Or reading along with one of your children? We’d love to hear about what you are reading, or what you’ve just completed. Write a post on your blog, and link up below, or if you don’t have a blog, join us in the comments.

What’s on Your Nightstand, December 27

Did you get some books for Christmas? Are you halfway into several books, taking advantage of extra holiday leisure time? Or do you have big plans for the next few weeks?

We want to hear about it. What’s on Your Nightstand is our opportunity to share what we are reading and why, or give some thoughts about some recently enjoyed books, or show a picture of that about-to-topple stack of library books that you hope to read before they are due.

Write a post on your blog and link it up here. Then take some time to visit around.

Check out our current giveaways.

What’s on Your Nightstand postponed to December 27

What’s on Your Nightstand is usually the 4th Tuesday of each month, however, since it falls on Christmas Day this year, we know that’s not going to afford much opportunity for visiting around.

We will have our post up on Thursday December 27. So for this month only, join us that day to tell us what you plan to read in January, or what you just finished reading, or what books you’ve purchased (or been given!) that are causing your nightstand to groan.

What’s on Your Nightstand – November 27

The holidays are here! I know that things are much busier, but I hope that, like me, you got in at least a little bit of reading over Thanksgiving weekend.

We always travel at Christmas, which means more reading time, especially now that my kids are old enough to fly without constant attention from me. In fact, now they usually have their own books (or handheld devices, of course) to keep them busy.

Maybe you’ll read while standing in line at the post office or the mall.

However you manage to squeeze it in, we want to know what you’re reading!

What’s on Your Nightstand? October 23

We want to know what your reading stack looks like. What are sitting on your nightstand because you are hoping to get to them this month? Or if you’d prefer, what books are sitting there waiting to be reshelved or returned to the library because you finished them this month?

How you do it is up to you. You can take a picture, post a list of links, or tell us how and why each book made it on your list.

However you choose, this is a time to join with other booklovers.

Would you like to share what your kids are reading?

What’s on Your Nightstand? September 25

What are you reading? That’s what the Nightstand carnival is all about. We want to know what’s up next for you, or what you’re currently reading or what you hope to get to.

Your list may be big or small, but we still want to read about it. If you are low on inspiration, check the other lists. I always find that I read a lot less when I get stuck with lacklaster books. So, just write up a post, put it on your blog, and link up (or join in the comments).

What’s on Your Nightstand August 28

My kids went back to school yesterday. I had hoped to get several reviews written, but as is always the case, I ended up losing the first day. I didn’t read any pages either.

However, judging from the bounty of books that has arrived on my doorstep in the mail over the last two weeks — many of them unsolicited, but so compelling — I need to get reading.

I’m sure I won’t get to them all this month, but check out my Nightstand post, linked below to see what I have to choose from. I’m just going to read what I want to read, and I think that I’m going to try to refrain from requesting anymore for at least a few weeks.

What’s on Your Nightstand July 24

Summer is definitely winding down. I know for me that will bring to an end my special morning reading time. Instead of rushing to get ready for my day and getting my kids off to school, I take advantage of our slower-moving mornings to spend some time with my coffee and a book. I’ll just enjoy it while it lasts!

I’d love to hear about your summer reading schedule — what you’re reading, and even how/when if you’d like to share. Tell us what you hope to get to “on your nightstand” over the next month.

If this is your first time participating, put “first time” beside your name when you link up, so that we can give you an extra-warm welcome.

What’s on Your Nightstand, June 26

I love the 4th Tuesday of each month when so many of you join us here to share what you’d like to read this month, or what you just finished reading. We’re happy to see each link that pops up, whether you show a picture of your big pile of books on your nightstand (or beside the bed or wherever it is) or if you tell about a great used bookstore shopping trip or a visit to the library that has given you lots to read.

I hope you enjoy it, too — both writing up your posts and visiting around to add to that never-ending to-be-read list, or to find some other book-loving blog friends.
