Soccer for Moms

August 24, 2009 by Lisa

I am a soccer mom. For over ten years now I’ve been the washer of the uniforms, the maker of the Gatorades and the loyal cheerleader/taxi driver shuffling players to practice, home from practice, to games, home from games. The matches I’ve watched from the sidelines probably number in the thousands. Such immersion in the sport has granted me some degree of understanding of the game, understanding that grew from experience and from asking my husband/coach a thousand questions.

As a quintessential soccer mom, I feel uniquely qualified to review Soccer for Moms, the newest title in Plain White Press’s series “For Moms and Minivan drivers.” In this book, author Kerrie Page offers moms a overview of the basics of the game: rules, terminology, equipment and team structure. With diagrams for you visual learners! Soccer for Moms also covers tournament play and uniform basics as well as common injuries, the all-important game snacks, and the well stocked gear bag. She also features chapters on working with your child’s coach and what to expect in more competitive leagues.

Kerrie knows her stuff. I know. This is information I could have benefited from as a newbie soccer mom. Hey, this is information that benefits me now!

Are you soccer mom? Would you like to hone your soccer expertise? Or maybe you know a soccer mom? Plain White Press has graciously offered TWO copies of Soccer for Moms for us to give away during our Back to School Giveaway! Leave us a comment to be included in the drawing.

But there’s more! Plain White Press is also offering a discount code for 5 Minutes for Books readers. The coupon code is Soccer5 which will give you 20% off when you purchase at www.PlainWhitePress.com/soccer.

Wife and mother, Bible teacher and blogger, Lisa loves Jesus, coffee, dark chocolate and, of course, books. Read more of her reflections at Lisa writes….
