Interactive Books for Princesses

November 10, 2010 by Lauren

PhotobucketAs everyone knows, books provide a wonderful opportunity to entertain children. Recently, Simon and Schuster sent me two books that certainly allow for interactive fun. The first, My Little Pink Princess Purse, is a book, puzzle and toy in one. Created by the author of My Little Red Toolbox, My Little Pink Princess Purse invites the reader to a royal ball. Each page discusses the necessary preparations, such as wearing rings, packing accessories, and donning perfume. The book includes 18 removable cardboard pieces, including a fan, glasses, and a magic mirror. My Little Pink Princess Purse is an enchanting book that provides a story and endless imaginative fun.

PhotobucketThe second book is Beauty & the Beast: A Pop-up Book of the Classic Fairy Tale. This is a book to be enjoyed, but it is also a work of art. Each opening includes one large, intricate pop-up, as well as smaller pop-up sections. Author Robert Sabuda stays true to the classic Beauty and the Beast fairy tale, while including beautiful and imaginative designs. This book is not something I would hand a young child to enjoy on her own (it’s too pretty to be handled roughly), but Beauty & the Beast: A Pop-up Book of the Classic Fairy Tale will wow both young children and adults as well. Truly, the details in this book are stunning, and they provide a new way to enjoy a classic tale.

Both of these books are wonderful in their own way, and I encourage you to consider them. They would make great gifts. I know there’s a little princess at my house who will be excited to open these books on Christmas morning!

Lauren is a wife, mother of two, and an avid reader. She thanks Simon and Schuster for the review copies of these books. Lauren blogs at Baseballs and Bows.

Ooh, Robert Sabuda’s pop-up books are beyond gorgeous!! And yes, the ones that we do have sit on special shelves and come down to be looked at TOGETHER. 🙂

I was glad to read that this is not for the very young alone and enjoyed by all, because my only granddaughter is 19, a true princess. She would love it!
