Mailbox Monday – October 4

October 3, 2010 by 5 Minutes for Books

For the month of October, Mailbox Monday has moved over to She Reads and Reads. Be sure to check it out, and if books regularly make it into your house (via any source other than the library for the purposes of this meme), then you should consider linking up yourself.

JENNIFER

  • Little House on the Prairie 75th Anniversary Edition — This book is beautiful! What a wonderful Christmas gift for the girl who has yet to discover Laura Ingalls Wilder (or who loves her dearly).
  • The Heroine’s Bookshelf: Life Lessons, from Jane Austen to Laura Ingalls Wilder — Another great gift idea (apparently 2010 is the year of Laura Ingalls Wilder!). Can’t wait to read this slim volume.
  • Six Ways to Keep the Little in Your Girl and 8 Great Dates for Moms and Daughters: How to Talk About True Beauty, Cool Fashion, and Modesty! by Dannah Gresh

Usually when Friday afternoon comes, I figure my book receiving business is over, but Saturday morning The Action Bible arrived.

Then Saturday afternoon I got a whole surprise box of children’s picture books which look awesome (which my kids dug right into):

  • Crow (look at that cover!)
  • No Ghost Under My Bed
  • Two seasonal books by author/illustrator Liesbet Slegers The Child in the Manger and Kevin Discovers Autumn (again–look at that cover! a porcupine!)
  • Guido’s Great Colouring and Drawing Book and Ricky and the Squirrel both by Guido van Genechten
  • Laurie by

What do you think? What did you get in YOUR Mailbox?

I used to LOVE reading Little House on the Prairie. I think my parents still have the set. I should get it again! Happy reading. My mailbox is at The Crowded Leaf.

I have my boxed set from childhood. It was in a light blue box, and they all had light blue spines.

Little House in the Prairies! Wow I loved watching the serie when I was little… yes I’m part of that generation where Ma, Pa, & Laura ruled the world. I kept waiting for Laura to fall every time she ran down that hillside during the opening titles. Good times and will look up the Xmas special on this one.

    Enjoy the reads 🙂

Both the Little House on the Prairie and the Heroine’s Bookshelf would make great gifts. I would love to receive those for Christmas. The Little House books really were instrumental in my love of reading!

My kids would dig right into a fun box of books too! Can’t wait to see what you think of them 🙂

My six year old loves it when those packages are for her rather than mom.
