Circle of Nine: Sacred Treasures

It’s been a few months since the events that took place at Beltany (linked to my review), and Brigit Quinn is beginning her sophomore year of high school. She is adjusting well to living with her own father, Rowan, after Brigit met him and he and her mother reunited. She and her boyfriend Tyler are getting used to him being in college. Best of all, she’s training hard to learn how to use her gifts as one destined to serve in the Circle of Nine, descendants of the Tuatha de Danann, Ireland’s mythical ancient rulers. The nine guard the sacred treasures, knowing that if these ancient magic weapons ever fell into the wrong hands, it could spell doom.

Brigit discovers a photo album and note hidden away by her own grandmother that contains clues to a mystery baby, born the same day as Brigit’s father, to Tyler’s grandma Adele. Could Rowan be Tyler’s uncle? Rowan goes to Ireland in search of his own father and answers. His father is known as someone who practices black magic, and Rowan has long ago broken ties with him. But when the Circle of Nine is threatened by someone seeking to break them through black magic, Brigit finds that she will have to step up much sooner than she’d imagined. Is she ready to summon a portal and travel to the Otherworld?

Sacred Treasures is an excellent continuation of the story of the world begun in Beltany, and continued on in the Novella Collection. Brigit is leaning into her skills, and learning more about herself in the process.
