A Bible for Readers

October 13, 2017 by Jennifer

5M4B disclosure

I am a reader, so when I saw the CSB Reader’s Bible, I wanted to try it out. Of course I can — and do — read my normal Bible, but I’ve been trying to do it more. There are some reasons that I think this Bible might help me achieve this.

  • It’s beautiful! The gray cloth bound cover is pretty amazing. It also comes with a slip case of the same fabric, so it looks gorgeous. I have left it sitting on the top of my bedside table as a reminder to read it.
  • The format of the book is like a book. There are no chapters or verses, and so I think I naturally read more, instead of stopping after one chapter or the verses I’m looking up. You CAN still use it for personal study or to look up a verse, because the chapters are noted at the footer of each page. This picture is from the Psalms, but the difference is even more obvious in a non-poetic book of the Bible. It looks just like readable text.
  • The Christian standard Bible is a different translation, and it is readable. The description from the publisher says it stays as literal as possible to the Bible’s original meaning without sacrificing clarity. The CSB’s optimal blend of accuracy and readability makes Scripture more moving, more memorable, and more motivating to read and share with others.  I would agree with this.
