Are you looking for a beginning animal science for your young tot? Look no further. DK Books See How We Grow series has it all. The page layouts are simple, they use real photographs to document each animal’s life cycle, and, almost more exciting than that – (for the toddler, that is!) – they include stickers of the animals.
There are many books in this particular series. Each title explores the life cycle of a separate animal, showing what they look like when they are born, then at 4 weeks, 6 weeks, 8 weeks, etc. up until they reach adulthood. These books are great for toddlers who are in the stage of obsessing about mommy and baby animals and are identifying parents and children. My two year old loves these books.
The series features the “regular” animals you typically see in “life cycle” studies such as the butterfly, frog and chicken. However, they go above and beyond that by discussion the fox, puppy, mouse, owl and pony (amongst others). They are also relatively inexpensive books at $3.99 each. As my son begins and continues to explore the world around him, I’m happy for him to use these books. You can see a listing of the whole series by clicking on the DK.com website here.
Enjoy!
Carrie comes by her book obsession honestly, having descended from a long line of bibliophiles. She blogs about books regularly at Reading to Know.

That’s very cute! Who can resist that little fox?
