Everybody loves the little green caterpillar who eats everything in sight, right? It is hard to resist the bright and cheerful artwork of Eric Carle.

I was given the opportunity to select an item from this collection and I selected the lunch box. You have the option of selecting from two images for the cover of your lunch box and it can also be personalized. As I have three children who would all be interested in said lunch box, instead of putting any one of their names on it, I chose to label it “The Picnic Box.” When summertime rolls around I anticipate packing up a morning snack and sending the children out to their playhouse with “The Picnic Box” in hand. I have no doubt that this will be a huge hit with them and in this manner the box can be shared by all.
The lunch box itself is a sturdy silver metal box. The image and your name of choice is then printed on a huge sticker-like label and placed on both sides of the box. (In other words, the name and image appears on both sides.) The corner flap of my label was turned up a bit upon arrival which made the sticker easy to pick at and peel up a bit. However, I pressed it down again and all of the edges are now quite secure. I tried scratching at the corners to see just how easy the label would peel off and it will not come off easily. (I could get it off if I was persistant and really wanted to but I don’t.) I might just say that if you opt to purchase this item, you should smooth down the edges of the label before handing it over. Otherwise, it’s a fantastic box and fun to have a favorite character printed on the side.
Placing my order through the MyChronicleBooks website was a breeze! It was remarkably easy to make my selection, personalize the item and checkout. The box shipped right away and I had it in a matter of days! No problems there whatsoever. I was very pleased with their fast turn-around.
