Arranged {with Giveaway}

June 18, 2012 by Dawn

In the year 2012, in our American culture, could you imagine anyone you know pursuing an arranged marriage? I have to admit that I can’t– not myself (if I weren’t already married) or any of my friends, even the single ones who might wish they were otherwise. But somehow this plot becomes believable and highly engaging in Catherine McKenzie’s new novel Arranged, and from the various posts I’ve read in my social media circles, I’m not the only one talking about the provocative theme of this book.

Intrigued? Click over to 5 Minutes for Mom to read my full review. I’ll tell you this- I found this to be a fun novel that explores the idea of marriages based on compatibility and friendship in contrast to our traditional idea of romantic love. After you check out what I have to say about Arranged, please leave a comment to be entered in a giveaway to win a copy for yourself.

Dawn hopes to spend much of her summer with a book in hand. She’ll have to put it down occasionally to pay some attention to her long-lost blog, my thoughts exactly.

    I actually CAN see the benefits of an arranged marriage…anything seems better than the crazy dating stories I hear from my single friends and family members! With divorce rates up over 50%, can arranged marriages possibly have less success than traditional marriages?
