As we draw closer to Thanksgiving, most of our thoughts on on food, right? And after we eat that big meal, we immediately are faced with our big shopping list for Christmas.
Over the next few weeks we are going to be featuring many holiday books as well as food and family fun (which will be helpful if you are mostly cooped up in the winter season, as we are here in Connecticut). I will catalog all those posts here for a quick and easy reference.
I also wanted to let you know about a cool contest and a chance to win $5000 and be featured on the POM Wonderful blog.
Here’s my entry:
My kids love those expensive fizzy fruit drinks, so I came up with my own healthier, tastier, and cheaper alternative.
I had brought home some orange juice that wasn’t quite sweet enough for our taste, so instead of letting it go bad, I froze it in an ice cube tray so that I could use it in smoothies and recipes. When I heard about the POM Wonderful Fresh Pomegranate recipe contest, I figured out a way to use POM Wonderful juice and fresh pomegranates for a fun drink that just screams “holiday” as well.
POM Wonderful Fall Fizz Drink
Put a few pomegranate seeds in the bottom of each section of an ice cube tray. Fill 2/3 of the way with orange juice, and freeze. Before it’s completely frozen, add a few more seeds on the top of the cube and freeze completely.
Put two cubes in a glass and fill half-way with POM Wonderful Pomegranate juice. Fill up the rest of the way with Ginger Ale.
Add a straw and enjoy. When the ice cubes melt completely, don’t forget to eat the pomegranate seeds as well.
If you want to enter your own recipe (whether you’re a blogger or a not), click here. Hurry — entries close on November 30.
