I love to read about travel, especially travel that causes people to truly know and love a place that was not their home. This is definitely the case for Matt Goulding in Grape, Olive, Pig.
This is a dense book. It’s broken up by beautiful color pictures, but there’s a lot of text. I think it’s best approached as a book to take in slowly rather than to sit down and read in a sitting.
There are good tips — like the 3 Rules of the Tapas Crawl or the Cider House Rules — that could help someone thrive in the region or to just help the voyeuristic traveler to truly feel a sense of place.
There are debates posed to make the reader think — like what makes “authentic” food.
I think this would be a great Christmas gift — either for your personal list, or for someone on your list. It has that wow-factor. I actually know exactly who would love this gift.
The book is available for purchase on the Harper Collins page. Find out more at the

Ooh yes this looks like a VERY entertaining Christmas gift – I know I’d love to receive it!
