The merits of reading with young children are well established, and if you’re a parent visiting our book blog, then I know you’re already spending time in the joyful experience of reading with your own kids. If you’ve got a baby or toddler, then you’re likely very familiar with the world of board books, and I’m happy to share a newly released book with you today, I Love You Through and Through/ Te quiero, yo te quiero by Bernadette Rossetti-Shustak and illustrated by Caroline Jayne Church.
A little larger than most square-shaped board books, this book has a puffy cover and thinnish, but sturdy pages. Each page features a declaration of love toward the cute little toddler on the page, obviously the words of an unseen parent or caregiver, who loves each and every part of the little guy. The few words on each page are written in both English and Spanish, offering a bilingual reading experience for children being raised with both languages, or just a simple introduction to a new language for others.
Though my own children are long past the board book stage, I will be fortunate to be spending some days with friends’ little ones this fall, and I’m looking forward to reading I Love You Through and Through/ Te quiero, yo te quiero with them, as we point out the fun colors on the pages and giggle as we touch their ears, toes, and nose along with the book!
