Yes, I am a Nicholas Sparks junkie—I have read every one of his novels. By nature, I am a very practical and reasonable person, but every now and then, I enjoy being caught up in a Sparks scenario: two people fall deeply in love in a very short amount of time and then something happens that threatens to ruin their relationship forever.
In The Last Song, seventeen-year-old Veronica “Ronnie” Miller goes to spend the summer with her father at the beach in North Carolina. Ronnie hasn’t spoken to her father in three years, and she is not happy about the forced reunion.
It doesn’t take long for Ronnie to fall in with the wrong crowd, and trouble soon follows. Ronnie is surprised when her dad is supportive of her, and her anger begins to dissipate. Ronnie also meets a clean-cut handsome local—not at all her type—and much to her dismay, she falls for him.
The Last Song is a story of love on many levels. I appreciated that this novel included the first love that has been the center of Mr. Sparks’s books before, but it also included the parental love and sacrifice that resonates with any mom or dad. I have read many of Nicholas Sparks’s books, I can honestly say that this one touched my heart. If you are a Nicholas Sparks fan, or someone looking to get lost in the pages of an emotional story, be sure to read The Last Song.

My stepdaughter LOVES Nicholas Sparks, and we bought this for her for her birthday this year. I’ve never read anything by him, but I’ve been tempted to pick one up. Perhaps this should be the one!
Great review, Lauren!

I enjoyed reading this book very much and loved your review too. I was more touched by the father-daughter relationship than the love between Will and Ronnie
