Do you have an amazing baby? Well, then maybe you’d better check out these amazing books by Silver Dolphin!
The Amazing baby books come in a variety of sizes and are individually ear marked for specific age ranges. From about the age of 6 months on, these books are designed to catch the eye and stimulate the brain of your little protege. With a heavy emphasis on black & white, the books show contrast to little eyes very well. The “simple” line drawings that the books feature make the individual animals or objects really stand out, making it easier for little ones to visualize what is on the page. Little eyes have to learn to focus and the Amazing Baby series by Silver Dolphin really use their colors well and in bold fashion in order to keep the little ones staring at the page.
Taking a look at a smattering of this series, in Amazing Baby: Five Little Ducks! we find a rhyme about a mother duck who sends her little ducks out to play and calls them back with a “quack, quack, quack!” Each time she calls for her ducks, she seems to lose one until she is compelled to go out, find them herself and bring them home. On each page we find a cut-out hole that shows an image of a duck on the next page, lending depth to the reading experience. There is also some texture included in this book, encouraging little fingers to pet the soft feathers of the duck. This book is visually appealing, involves counting from 1-5, has a touch-and-feel aspect to it that is exciting to play with and is just plain fun.
On the Move! is recommended for babies 10 months and up because it is a “changing picture” book (sort of in keeping with the animotion books I talked about earlier). The train on the front cover puffs steam and as you browse through this book, rockets are zooming by and boats are rocking in the ocean. I definitely wouldn’t try to get my newborn to focus on the pages, however, this motions are simplistic enough that I think the 10+ month label is just about accurate. This book is also told in rhyme and is quite catchy and encourages a sing-song interaction with your little one as you read along.
“Beep, beep! What a busy day — honk your horn and speed away!”
If you have an amazing baby who likes to wiggle a bit and loves to make their own sound, then I highly recommend this book to you. It’s clever, cute, straightforward and it’s got rhythm. How can you lose?
Lastly, Baby, Boo! is a fantastic book to read aloud to the little person that you love. It is a larger board book and on each page spread it includes an endearing line or two accompanied with a black and white photograph of a baby. There are babies sucking on fingers, laughing, and generally being way too cute. This book is a fun cuddle book with which you can point out baby body parts while telling them how very much you love them. The pictures in this book truly are adorable. They have a photo journalistic quality to them which is highly appealing to myself, also being a photographer. The last page of this book includes a nice, large cutout with a mirror so that baby can look at themselves. “Peekaboo! It’s you!” the book says.
These books are too cute. I really appreciate them and find them to be a useful tool in engaging little ones with some of my favorite things — books! Check them out!
