This week is Book Blogger Appreciation Week. If you’re a book blogger, check out the list of daily blogging topics, and join in –each day or on just a few. We aren’t going to be posting here at 5 Minutes for Books, but some of our reviewers, including myself, will be posting on our own blogs, and I will link up the posts in the right sidebar.
I am privileged to be a part of this community. I love books. I love reading. I love recommending books to people (especially when I hook them up with a book they love).
In addition to being a book blogger, I am a book blog reader. I love book bloggers. I support book bloggers by reading their reviews, commenting on them, and using their links if I decide to purchase something that they’ve recommended.
Do you appreciate book bloggers? Do you enjoy having a whole virtual slew of folks who share your love of books? Who introduce you to new genres or authors?
What a privilege it is for us to be able to spotlight and support authors and publishers and be a source of information for you. The fact that the books I read and review and recommend end up in other people’s hands or moving up their TBR list, or purchased as gifts for nieces and grandsons gives me joy. I don’t have any other motive, BUT. . . .
How can you show your appreciation to the book bloggers you value?
- Come to our sites. Yes, even if you never leave a comment, we usually know that people are stopping in for a virtual visit, and it warms our souls.
- Better yet, when you come, let us know. If you have an opinion on a book we’ve reviewed, leave a comment leaving your thoughts, whether they are the same as or different from the ones we’ve presented. If you have a question about the book, ask it, and we’ll get back to you with an answer. If our review has convinced you to read it or suggest it to a friend or child, let’s us know. That’s the comment that puts us over the moon.
- If you do decide to buy the book, and you frequent online booksellers, use our link to buy the book. We get a very small percentage of the sale. We aren’t in this for the money, but it helps. You can help further by starting all your online purchases by clicking through the ads on the sidebar or any of our links (or the links in the sidebar of your favorite book blogger).
As a book blogger what makes you feel appreciated? How do you show your appreciation to the book bloggers you enjoy?

Blogging about books brings me such joy, honestly. Whenever I get a comment that says someone is motivated to pick up a book after I’ve written my own simple review, I’m just thrilled. What a wondrous gig!

I’m reading, even when I don’t comment! It’s hard to get time to comment everywhere, but I’m excited to “meet” a lot of great bloggers this week.
I too find so much joy in sharing a love of reading with others via blogging!
