Little Black Travel Books

May 31, 2009 by Lauren

PhotobucketI confess: I am addicted to Walt Disney World. In recent years we have gone annually, but if I could, I would go multiple times each year. I am barely home from one trip before I am ready to plan the next one. One way I feed my addiction is by reading Walt Disney World guidebooks. Because of this, I was excited to open a box of books from Jennifer and find The Little Black Book of Walt Disney World. I couldn’t wait to start reading.

The first thing that struck me about The Little Black Book of Walt Disney World is its size. It is small. Because of this, you won’t find some of the photos or detail that you might find in other Disney World guidebooks. Its size, however, is a great feature. With many Disney guidebooks, their large size makes carrying them around the parks inconvenient. You can easily carry this in your purse, making it a useful tool.

The book is divided into sections that cover each of the four major theme parks, as well as Downtown Disney, recreation, and accommodations. Each section includes a fold-out map, which is a great feature when you are carrying it in the park. Each section also breaks down the parks and other amenities into smaller divisions. (e.g. Magic Kingdom is divided into Fantasyland, Adventureland, etc…) and includes “What To Do and See” and “Where To Eat and Shop” for each of these divisions.

My only concern with The Little Black Book of Walt Disney World is that it was released in January 2008. Disney World is constantly changing, and most Disney guidebooks are published annually (and even then it can be difficult to keep up with the changes). Some of the financial information in this book is slightly outdated, and there have been some attractions added that have really impacted park touring (e.g. Toy Story Mania in Hollywood Studios).

With this being said, I plan to carry this guidebook with us on our next trip. It is a great resource when you need information quickly; you can have it at your fingertips. The Little Black Book of Walt Disney World is a great addition to my Walt Disney guidebook collection!

The Little Black Book Travel Guides are also available for all the big vacation cities in the U.S. and many European cities as well. Jennifer has used the city guides, and has named them her hands-down favorite for use on a city vacation. Read her full review of the New York City and Chicago guides at her blog today.

Lauren is a wife, a mother of two, and an avid reader. She confesses to being a Disney addict. Her last trip was in November 2008, and she is planning a trip for the end of 2009. Lauren blogs at Baseballs and Bows.

One of you can win a travel guide to the city of your choice (U.S. or Canada addresses). Check out all the cities represented over at Peter Pauper Press, and leave a comment saying which guide interests you.

Find out what other books and activities are up for grabs at the Summer Fun Giveaway main page. We will announce all the winners on June 11.
