Felicity & Cordelia: A Tale of Two Bunnies

February 24, 2011 by Dawn

Friendship can thrive even when the folks involved aren’t exactly alike, which often just serves to make the friendship even more interesting! Friends abound in picture books, and with Lisa Jahn-Clough’s latest release, Felicity & Cordelia: A Tale of Two Bunnies, there are two cute new friends on the scene.

Although they share a great love for pie, Cordelia doesn’t have a heart for adventure like Felicity does. When Felicity suggests going for a ride in a hot air balloon, Cordelia politely declines, preferring to stay in the comforts of home. Felicity packs some provisions (including one large slice of pie), and with promises to write every day, she launches off in the hot air balloon, while Cordelia anxiously waves her goodbye from the ground. What will happen when Felicity’s pie is gone and the balloon pops? How will she make it home to her dear friend Cordelia?

Bright colors and soft, sketchy lines illustrate straight-eared Felicity and floppy-eared Cordelia, in a style that is just the kind to inspire young artists’ imitation! Children can relate to the mixture of feelings experienced when separated from a loved one, and of course, Felicity & Cordelia: A Tale of Two Bunnies celebrates the wonder of returning home, too. For more information on the author, and to watch an adorable trailer for the book, visit Lisa Jahn-Clough’s website.

Dawn suffers from a severe case of picture book addiction, but she requests that no one plan an intervention. Along side the book love, she also talks funny kids, NPR obsessions and plenty of other randomness at her blog, my thoughts exactly.
