Over at 5 Minutes for Mom I’ve been sharing some interviews from the Little Fockers press junket that I attended. Check out my thoughts on Blythe Danner as a grandma, Jessica Alba, who was surprisingly funny. It’s a great Christmas movie dealing with family drama which is inevitable at the holidays, with a sweet twist. You can even win a $50 Fandango card.
So this slow bloggy holiday week, I thought I’d use our books on screen column to talk Christmas movies, whether they are book-inspired or not.
I have to say that my favorite movie is probably Elf. We watched it as a family a couple of years ago, and promptly decided that it should be a definite holiday tradition. It’s sweet, silly, and downright hilarious (in my humble opinion).
What about you? Do you have a favorite holiday movie, or one that helps you get into the Christmas spirit?
Elf and A Christmas Story, and “The Snowman,” (I think by Raymond Briggs?) and “Charlie Brown Christmas.” And, when possible, the Grinch (the old animated special, not the new one). I hate most of the other old ones, though, like Rudolph and Frosty.
I DVR’d “Elf” when it came on TV this past Monday. Funniest.Christmas.movie.ever! Love it! I also love “The Muppet’s Christmas Carol”.
My all-time favorite is the original Miracle on 34th Street. I have never seen Elf, but I remember you blogging about it. We’ll have to check it out!
Emmett Otter’s Jug Band Christmas – best! My son and I watch it during the day of Christmas Eve. Can’t wait! Also, it’s based on the book by Russell and Lillian Hoban.
I haven’t heard of that one, Carolyn.
