1-2-3 Draw Dinosaurs and Other Prehistoric Animals is part of a series of step-by-step drawing guide books suitable for, well, all ages really! These are great for the kids who are just getting their feet wet illustrating their own little cartoons and personal story books, as well as for the older child (or perhaps the inner child?) who appreciate just being able to dabble with the pencil.
The series is written and illustrated by Freddie Levin who lays things out in a step-by-step manner, showing you how to create your favorite animals, people and vehicles. There is a book for every subject and classification of animal imaginable, from Ocean Life, to Pets & Farm Animals, Baby Animals to Wild Animals. These books are helpful and informative.
At the same time, these books are nice for quiet time and creative play. They would make excellent resources in an elementary classroom when you need some time filler and it provides a chance for children to develop drawing skills. These books are meant to be just a beginning for sparking creativity and ability to draw more complex characters and creatures on one’s own. However, this is a good place to start. If you haven’t seen these books around, check ‘um out!
Carrie comes by her book obsession honestly, having descended from a long line of bibliophiles. She blogs about books regularly at Reading to Know.

We used these books for the first few years of homeschooling, and the kids still pull them out every once in awhile – they’re wonderful! Using those books was the first time I actually thought I could draw more than stick figures! 🙂

I will have to check out the 123 draw horses. My twins would love it. They recently started a horsemanship class and this would be great! thanks for the tip..
