Every Sunday was the same. Martin, an imaginative boy, is bored of spending every Sunday with his grandparents and parents, eating the same food, telling the same stories, watching them do the same chores. So he decides that today will be different. Today, he and his faithful dog Maize will travel the world!
And that’s just what they do. The adults are all too busy to come, so the intrepid duo face frigid ice caps, arid deserts, volcanic lava flows, and even a monster or two. But in the end, they come safely home, where Grandma listens, enthralled, wondering where they’ll go next.
Sunday is a delightful book. In an age where children spend a lot of time staring at screens, it offers a glimpse into a world of vivid imagination, populated by whatever the child can dream up. I loved reading it and sharing it with children in my life. The drawings are delightful and the illustrations skillful and inviting. Highly recommended.
