This week’s Booking Through Thursday asks
…does the changing season change your reading habits? Less time? More? Are you just in the mood for different kinds of books than you were over the summer?
If I were to measure my reading, I would probably find that I read less this time of year. Trying to get my daughter back in the homework groove, watching football (my favorite sport) and getting through the busiest season in my job seem to cut into my time to read a book with little distraction.
As for the types of books I read…I usually choose fun “beach-y” reads during the summer. I tend to tackle heavier fare (and the term is relative!) once the carefree, unscheduled days of summer are past.
Good questions this week. Thoughts I’d never pondered before. What about you? Leave us your answer here in the comments, or let us know about your own post.

I change a bit. Come see my response.
I find that my reading tastes tend to change with the seasons, too.

Interesting. Hmmm. I end up reading a bit more in the fall, I think. I took a few days in the last two weeks with my daughter back to school and spent some great hours reading.
Of course, in the summmer, I read a lot on vacation, and in the winter there’s nothing else to do, and in the spring and fall it’s so nice outside, I like to sit out with a book. . . .
I guess I read all the time.
Not enough time for reading this time of year.

I found that when my kids were younger I went for romantic novels because I could put them down for long periods of time and not worry about taxing my brain. I sometimes was too tired to care about what I was reading and my attention was usually split between reading and doing other things. I changed to more involved books as they got older. In the summer on vacation, I will take about 7 books and have to home that will be enough to last the week. In the fall and a little in spring I am sooo busy with my son’s band, soccer and track that I only have time to read for about 15 minutes in bed before falling asleep so I can’t do anything too involved, but I do read decent books. In the winter I try to pick up a really thick good involved book that I can dig into, though some nights I stay up too late and it costs me. Short answer yes?
