Have you ever heard of Dawn Meehan? If you’re a follower of her blog, Because I Said So, then you already know where this is going, but if not, then let me tell you a little about her and her new book, You’ll Lose the Baby Weight (And Other Lies About Pregnancy and Childbirth).
It all started a few years ago with her hilarious ebay sale posting of a pack of Pokemon cards that her son somehow snuck into the grocery cart. From there it was a quick rise for her to blog stardom, and with the release of her second book, her humor is widely known and adored. Starting at the title, You’ll Lose the Baby Weight (And Other Lies About Pregnancy and Childbirth) gets readers chuckling as she writes a pregnancy guidebook unlike the traditional tomes. No medical advice, no health guidelines, just pure fun chitchat with someone who talks to you like an old friend. And one who isn’t afraid to tell it like it is. As a mom six times over, Meehan has a whole lot of experience in the pregnancy and childbirth arena, and she shares what she’s learned with her usual touch of humor.
For fans of Meehan’s blog, this book will be more of the same parenting fun, but focused back on the days of “morning” sickness, swollen ankles, and expanding bellies. Meehan’s style is enjoyable to read, with lots of sarcasm, usually conveyed through crossed out words (she is a big fan of the strike command), making for a light and fun time. She has received much recognition for her blog, for her down-to-earth, average-mom-ness, and this book follows suit. You’ll Lose the Baby Weight (And Other Lies About Pregnancy and Childbirth) would be a fun gift for a new mom-to-be, especially one with a great sense of humor!
Dawn’s days of pregnancy and childbirth are behind her, but the joys who joined her family after nine months of aches and pains are the key players on her blog, my thoughts exactly.
Thank you SO much for sharing this book and website. I had not seen this blog before, it’s hilarious! I subscribed and shared the link right away. Can’t wait to read the book.
It is quite fun, and that was one of the very first blogs I started reading when I entered the blogging world full on. 🙂 Enjoy!
