The Future of Happiness

April 10, 2017 by Jennifer

future of happiness

Where are we heading?
Would we be better without tech?
What will happiness look like?

Amy Blankson poses these questions and seeks to answer them in her new book The Future of Happiness: 5 Modern Strategies for Balancing Productivity and Well-Being in the Digital Era.

Read the 5 Strategies and how I’ve applied some of them in my post at 5 Minutes for Mom: How Does Technology Figure Into the Future of Happiness.
This book is completely readable. It’s the kind of book that will make you think and give you ideas that you want to implement immediately or keep on your back shelf. But what is even better is that the book is so well-organized, that you can skip to the part you want to read, or easily find the section that you want to re-read. In addition, the very end of the book is packed with charts and references, from lists of all the apps and resources mentioned in the book, to “crib notes” giving the high points of each chapter.

This rocketed my appreciation of the book, because a non-fiction book could have compelling and interesting information, but if it’s not presented in an accessible way, it loses its punch.

The examples given help elucidate each strategy and showed me ways I could implement it — or ways I already am. At 5 Minutes for Mom, I shared how I’ve applied them in parenting, friendship, and work-life balance.
