One of my favorite children’s book publishers, in terms of offering fun science reads, is Silver Dolphin Books. I’ve highlighted some of their books in the past and I’m back again today to introduce you to Look Inside: The Human Body. I’m no less impressed by this one than by another of their other titles.
Look Inside: The Human Body allows the young readers to take a look inside their bodies layer by layer. Each page you turn both reveals a new system of the body as well as completes the body system. Each page you turn allows you to focus on a particular area and “dissect” the body (in so much as you would ever want to actually do so!)
I was initially afraid that the body parts would not be attached to the frame of the book very well, and would result in easy breakage. I need not have feared! Silver Dolphin really produced a sturdy book and the bones and muscles that you get to view by page, inside the human outline, are firmly and solidly attached. This book is recommended for ages 4-8 and I think that’s probably just about right.
Inside the book you’ll find full-colored illustrations and photographs of babies, children and adults. You can learn about things like broken bones and bone repair, the basic food groups, and are provided with experiment suggestions to help your children learn about their muscles and their respiratory system. All in all, I found this to be a thorough and yet basic introduction to the human body. It’s fun, informative and creative! No complaints around here and since my son is on the verge of learning more about our amazing bodies, I’m glad to have this resource on hand.
Thanks, Silver Dolphin Books, for offering us the chance to learn more about this book!
Carrie comes by her book obsession honestly, having descended from a long line of bibliophiles. She blogs about books regularly at Reading to Know and Reading My Library.
